: : Central Edmonton Karate-Do was founded by instructor Annette Fuchs, Nidan, in August, 2003. For 18 years she has studied the Shitoryu style of karate under the guidance of Genbu-kai Canada's Chief Instructor, Mr. Cameron Steuart. Sensei Fuchs also holds a Masters Degree in Education.

As Genbu-Kai instructors, we instruct the traditional Shito-Ryu style of karate as taught worldwide by Shihan Fumio Demura and the Japan Karate-Do Genbu-kai International.

provides traditional karate training for adults, youth and children.

Karate training is designed for all body types with the goal of helping to build confidence, enhance altertness, develop physical coordination, and increase cardiovascular fitness and body strength.

training activities include conditioning, stretching, kihon (basics), kata, kumite, impact training, self-defense, weapons, and opportunities to participate in a number of seminars and tournaments.

is open for registration of new students year round. We are located at the Allendale Community Centre, 6330 - 105A Street, Edmonton Alberta.

Shihan (Master) Fumio Demura is the director and chief instructor of the Japan Karate-Do Genbu-Kai International. He holds a 9th Dan in karate-do as well as Dan rankings in kendo, judo, aikido and kobudo. From his headquarters in Santa Ana, California, Shihan Demura directs the Genbu-Kai Organization which has affiliates world wide. Shihan Demura is one of the most widely known and respected karate instructors in the world.

All instructors are personally certified by Shihan Demura and the Japan Karate-Do Genbu-Kai International organization.

 

Sensei Cameron Steuart is the director and head instructor of Genbu-Kai Canada. Steuart Sensei began his karate training in 1967 and has been instructing since 1972. In 1982 he moved to Japan to further his study of the martial arts and achieve black belt gradings in Shotokan Karate and Muso Shinden Ryu Iaido (Japanese swordsmanship).

Mr. Steuart returned to Canada in 1984 and established Lloydminster Karate-Do. In 1985 Mr. Steuart began studying under the Master Fumio Demura, and at his instruction developed what was then called the Japan Karate Federation of Canada, and is known today as Shito-Ryu Genbu-Kai Canada. We now have in in excess of one thousand members.

Lloydminster Karate-Do is the Canadian headquarters for Shito-Ryu Genbu-Kai International. Sensei Steuart holds black belt degrees in Shito-Ryu Karate, Shotokan Karate, and Japanese swordsmanship.
